Call 'Em Out Friday: Will Lack Of Focus Be The Sudden Demise Of Manny Pacquiao? 02.05.08 - By Vivek Wallace: Every Friday on my 'Call-Out' segment a new fighter finds himself in the 'fishbowl', as we dissect the pro's and con's as they relate to him and his name in the sport. This week is no different, as we closely analyze the good and not-so-good relative to Phillipino phenom, Manny Pacquiao. His talent and desire once he's in the ring can never be questioned, but the effort it takes to get him to that point - particularly lately - has left many wondering how much longer can he last atop his division, let alone remain a contender in a quest for the sports Pound for Pound elite mantle. Like always, we take a look at both sides of the spectrum, and when the facts are sorted out, we let you decide.... Read Full Story

Extreme Gender Bias: Woman Who Statutorily Raped Boy Avoids Jail, While Boy's Older Brother Goes to Prison for Exact Same Crime by Glenn Sacks I'm opposed to prison sentences for certain statutory rape situations--in many countries, a 21-year-old man having a relationship with a 17-year-old woman is perfectly normal. A friend's grandparents recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary, and it was publicized in local papers, as it should be, since it's such an achievement. But looking at the story and doing a little math made me realize that if the two of them had gotten married yesterday, he would go to jail--he was 21 and she was 17 when they got married in 1922. This is absurd. Read Full Story

The Ides And Ends of Spring Fight Fever By Phil Woolever PLANET BOXING – I agree with Antonio Tarver when he said boxing is “thriving” these days. Long before March Madness roared in and out, the 2008 conking calendar had already filled up with enough duke out drama to stretch respectably into next winter. Since I began compiling semi-quarterly state of the manly arts observational data a few years ago, things have continued to roll on petty well for a wide range of parties in the boxing game. Barrera Wants Pacquiao/Marquez Rematches By Mark Vester While many will wonder why, Marco Antonio Barrera is still interested in facing Manny Pacquiao for a third time. The 2007 rematch went the distance, but Pacquiao won a clear decision with very little resistance along the way. He also wants a return duel with Juan Manuel Marquez, who won a close decision over Barrera last March. Read Full Story

NSA Had Access Built into Microsoft Windows Duncan Campbell on 27 March, 2008 Heiss - A CARELESS mistake by Microsoft programmers has revealed that special access codes prepared by the US National Security Agency have been secretly built into Windows. The NSA access system is built into every version of the Windows operating system now in use, except early releases of Windows 95 (and its predecessors). The discovery comes close on the heels of the revelations earlier this year that another US software giant, Lotus, had built an NSA "help information" trapdoor into its Notes system, and that security functions on other software systems had been deliberately crippled.
