PBA FINALS: GIANTS TAKE GAME 3
THE Purefoods TJ Giants nailed their first victory in their title showdown against Sta. Lucia Realtors, 118-107 in the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup Best-of-seven series.
Guard Peter June Simon came off the bench and scored 26 points. He was named best player of the game after he exploded for 12 points in the third quarter when slot man Kerby Raymundo rode the bench due to foul trouble.
The Realtors won the first two games of the series, giving them a 2-1 edge going into Game 4 Friday evening.
With the win the Giants are hoping to duplicate their monumental feat of coming back from a 0-2 deficit which they actually did twice..
Purefoods were in the same scenario during the 2002 Philippine Cup semifinals and the 2006 Governors Cup Finals which they both eventually won..
Purefoods are now in their 20th Finals appearance and is also on their 20th year in the PBA..
Sta. Lucia meanwhile is only in their third championship stinr since entering the league in 1993. The Realtors won their lone title in 2001 by capturing the season’s Governors Cup.
